Invisalign for Teens
At Barr & Diachenko DDS your family is our first priority. Throughout our over 40-year history servicing the Chicagoland area, we have become the leading provider for all of your family’s restorative and cosmetic dental needs.
We know that the health and comfort of your family is your primary concern. That is why we take such care in providing the most comfortable and efficient treatments for kids and teenagers.
The last thing you want is a treatment plan that your kids will hate – like embarrassing and uncomfortable metal braces. That is why Drs. Barr and Diachenko and their team have become Chicago’s resident trailblazers in Restorative Dentistry for children and teens, with a focus in Invisalign aligners.
Invisalign vs. braces, who wins?
As far as results are concerned, the two treatments are remarkably similar to each other. Both Invisalign and braces successfully correct most instances of:
• Crooked teeth
• Tooth gaps
• Uneven bites
• And more
However, through its low-impact, zero-visibility methodology, Invisalign shines much brighter than its more conventional counterpart.
Wire braces demand a slow buildup of tension in the apparatus and regular tightening by a dentist during checkups. The increasing pressure in the wire is what pulls the teeth, improving their alignment. Invisalign accomplishes the same outcome by using transparent (and removable) aligners that are precision-made for your mouth and practically invisible to the naked eye.
Due to Invisalign’s more subtle approach to smile alignment and the added perk of being – more or less – invisible, most patients agree that Invisalign easily beats braces in every way.
How do you get Invisalign?
During a relaxed consultation with Drs. Barr or Diachenko, we will determine your suitability for Invisalign clear aligners. Then, the doctor will design a treatment plan best suited for your unique needs.
Every mouth is different, so it’s reasonable to expect that your treatment plan will differ from someone else’s. In many cases, you will first be fitted with a custom designed Invisalign aligner-tray soon after you are approved for the treatment by your dentist. After your initial fitting, you will wear your aligner for a minimum of 20 hours a day; removing them only to brush your teeth or eat.
A new aligner-tray will then be made for you every two weeks after your first fitting, to accommodate for the improvements your smile is making. This process will continue for about one to one and half years while we work towards achieving the smile of your dreams.
How much will you pay for Invisalign?
With recent improvements in dental methods and crafting techniques, Invisalign is now just as reasonably priced as conventional metal braces.
It goes without saying that the total price of the treatment varies widely from smile to smile and from area to area. To receive a more accurate estimate of your costs, we recommend requesting a consultation with Drs. Barr and Diachenko.
Invisalign frequently asked questions:
1) Will I know if my kids are wearing their Invisalign?
Despite being transparent, clear Invisalign aligners will have an understated little blue dot placed near the front of the tray. If you can find the blue dot, you will know if your children are wearing their aligners.
2) How do I clean my Invisalign?
Specialized cleaning solutions for Invisalign aligners are available to buy, but most patients prefer to clean them with their regular toothbrush and toothpaste with warm water. Make sure to keep the temperature of the water fairly low though, because excessive heat may bend or damage the materials of your tray.
3) Do I need to do anything after Invisalign?
Like the after-care required after conventional braces, your doctor might encourage you to wear an aligner for some time while you sleep – after you complete the Invisalign treatment. However, every case is special, and after-care may not be required in your unique situation.
